History

There has never been a better time to study History in England. There is now a huge range of exciting topics that can be studied as part of History.

If you choose to study History at New College Leicester you will study Superpower relations and The Cold War. Linking with our 20th century units in year 9 this is a very topical subject that has shaped the society we live in today. You will also then study  Anglo-Saxon and Norman England which covers 1066 and the changes that followed in Norman England, this often shocking and bloody period gives a fascinating insight into early medieval England. You will then complete the thematic study of Migration over time from the year 800 to the modern period. Finally you will move on to studying Weimar and Nazi Germany. This consistently popular unit addresses Hitler’s rise to power and the changes made by the Nazis.
