Year 10 and 11 Learning
Design Technology students in years 10 & 11 carry out research and design tasks in all areas of Design and Technology such as Hospitality and Catering, Textiles, Design Technology and Engineering. Their completed portfolios are then showcased in the end of year exhibition of success.
Students will use all the skills they have gained during Key Stage 3 to produce a theory portfolio and practical pieces. They are encouraged to design products for the real world and explore how products are made in industry whether it be in an industrial kitchen or the world of auto manufacturing. Their research and development tasks are backed up by educational visits to Lestercast LTD, Leicester, Green power go-kart races and experience in a professional working kitchen giving students first-hand experience of the real world of Design and Technology.
We believe that the Design and Technology Department enables students to become equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the rapidly changing world of Design and Technology in the future.
