Wider Curriculum
The Herewoode Academy has an extensive programme of activities to enable students to try something new and develop their skills and passions beyond their timetabled lessons.
We offer a broad range of regular clubs from DIY skills and freestyle gymnastics to playing an instrument in the school band. All of our activities provide a safe and engaging setting for students to pursue their interests, make friends and develop a variety of useful life skills. Our clubs are delivered by specialist Herewoode staff and our trusted partnership organisations such as Moving Together Dance, GNR8 Academy and Curve Theatre Leicester.
In addition to these regular clubs, there are many opportunities for students to attend trips and visits. These activities are designed to deepen students’ knowledge and understanding of specific subject areas, broaden their cultural experiences and raise their aspirations for their future careers. Visits include field trips to the Eden Project in Cornwall, overnight stays in London to see West End shows and opportunities to support their local football team at Leicester City Football Ground.
