Breakfast Menu
We here at The Herewoode Academy firmly believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It replenishes the supply of glucose to boost energy levels and alertness, whilst also providing other essential nutrients required for good health. This is why we run a breakfast club available for ALL students across ALL year groups. Breakfast club runs from 8.00am - 8.45am with doors closing at 8.25am Monday to Friday. We offer FREE toast / cereal / fresh fruit / tea / milk and hot chocolate to name just a few items.

Unlike some schools, we do not have a rolling menu for our Daily Special items. We try to vary our menus as much as possible to keep our students engaged in our catering services and allow them to experience different foods, flavours and tastes to give them a wider understanding of food and healthy eating options.
Cashless Catering
The Herewoode Academy uses a cashless catering system, this means that when an item is bought, no physical cash is exchanged. Instead, an account on the system is pre-loaded with money either using our chosen partner ParentPay or loading cash onto one of the two cash loaders located inside the school.
Our cashless catering system is biometric, this means that we take the thumbprint of the child and use that to authenticate them at the till. This is a secure method of identification and means that we can process a large number of students in a very short space of time. We are only allowed to take the thumbprint of students whose parents have consented to this, if you are unsure if you have consented, or would like further information then please email us and we will be happy to help. When we take a thumbprint, we don’t store an image of the thumbprint, instead, we take co-ordinates from the print and turn them into a unique code, like a grid reference on a map, and this is then stored, encrypted, in a database. That means that no one else, other than The Herewoode Academy catering system, can use your child’s thumbprint. When you child leaves, their thumbprint is automatically deleted from the system.
Our cashless catering system also allows parents/carers to see what their child has been buying at school, this information is uploaded in near real-time to ParentPay. Using this system, we can, at the request of our parents, add restrictions to account spending, such as maximum daily spending limits and banned items. Its also important that you tell us of any food allergies or intolerances that your child may have as this will alert the till operator to help prevent your child from eating something that they shouldn’t.
Pre-Ordering
Our students can pre-order their lunch, on the day. This allows them to get served faster from our dedicated pre-order collection point in Central Hall. Pre-ordering can be done at either of the two pre-order terminals or by ordering in the Coffee Bar at breaktime. Orders can be made up to 11.30am on the day of collection.
ParentPay
ParentPay is our chosen partner for taking payments for various items from staff and students, to register for an account, please visit the ParentPay website, you will also need a unique username and password from The Herewoode Academy to complete the registration, to obtain this please email us and we will be happy to send you the information.
